A few weeks ago IBM aired a Watson at Work IoT commercial. The commercial starts out with an elevator maintenance repairman coming in to repair an elevator. When he checks into the front desk and lets him know he is there to fix the elevator, the front desk guard is confused; the elevator’s not broken or out of service? What he doesn’t know is Watson IoT + IBM Services already alerted the elevator repair man that Elevator in bank 3 will break down in 2 days. The ‘new guy,’ Watson, alerted him that the sensors were going to break down. How’s that for a predictive Maintenance commercial!
So what’s cool about the commercial? For those of you already deep in the Industrial IoT world, this is nothing new; however, for the average consumer, this is a perfect example of how connected devices will impact and enhance our everyday lives.
