Use Node-RED to connect Anybus CompactCom-devices to IIoT

HMS has recently released a free Anybus CompactCom node for Node-RED which retrieves data from CompactCom enabled devices.

Node-RED

Node-RED is a tool created by IBM Emerging Technologies and is used to wire together hardware devices, APIs and online services in new and interesting ways.

With Node-RED, customers can easily connect data from Anybus-enabled devices to IIoT services with protocols like MQTT, OPC UA, IBM Watson, various WEB APIs etc. On the official Node-RED webpage there is today more than 600 nodes available for connection to various equipment and services.

"As a leading IIoT-enabling company, we are constantly looking to aid our customers realizing IIoT in their own applications. Through Node-RED, we are providing an easy way for CompactCom users to develop their own IIoT solutions and get factory floor device data into IT systems." says Leif Malmberg, Product Manager Anybus CompactCom.

How it works

The steps required to install the node and get communication up and running are described in a new application note:

Connect Anybus CompactCom to IIoT applications using Node-RED
(Available in “Files and Documentation” for each supported module on Anybus.com.)

The Node-RED Anybus node is compatible with all Anybus CompactCom 40 modules that have the webserver enabled.
