An Anybus Wireless Bolt LTE can be used to connect an Ewon to a cellular network.

APPLICABLE PRODUCTS

  • Anybus Wireless Bolt

PRE-REQUISITES

  • Admin access to the Ewon
  • A paperclip to factory reset the Bolt
  • HMS IPconfig to change the Bolt's IP address if necessary

Configuring the Bolt

  1. While the Bolt is powered on, insert a paper clip to hold the reset button for >10 seconds. This will restore the Bolt to factory default settings.

  2. Connect the Bolt to a computer for configuration and supply power either through PoE or an independent power supply.
  3. Navigate to 192.168.0.98 to access the Bolt's configuration webpage.
    • If this IP is not accessible, use the HMS IPConfig Utility to update the Bolt's IP to one that is.
  4. Enable or Disable the Bolt’s DHCP Server and select the DHCP range, if necessary.
  5. Navigate to ‘Cellular Settings’ and make sure the APN is correct for your cellular provider or use Automatic APN Assignment.
  6. On the System Overview page, make sure that you have a Data Connection.

     7. Click Save and Reboot to apply these settings, then connect the Ethernet cable to the Ewon's WAN             port (lit with orange) or connect both the Bolt and Ewon to the same switch.

Configuring the Ewon

  1. Click Wizards at the top right, then select the Internet wizard on the right.
  2. Choose Ethernet for the interface.
  3. Use DHCP or set a static IP address in the same subnet as the Bolt’s Ethernet IP address (If using a static IP address, you must set the default gateway and DNS settings. The gateway should be the Bolt’s LAN IP address.)
  4. Complete the wizard and verify the connection is working.

Troubleshooting

If the Internet test fails, there are a few possible explanations:

  1. The Bolt did not connect to the cellular network:
Check the Diagnostic page on the Bolt. It will show information such as the signal strength and connection status. Try pinging a public domain address, like anybus.com. If it doesn’t work, try a public IP address, like 8.8.8.8. If you cannot ping a domain, but you can ping an IP address, it suggests a DNS issue.
  2. Reboot the Bolt and then Reboot the Ewon:
Reboot the Bolt and wait for it to connect to the cellular network. Once it’s connected, reboot the Ewon. This will ensure all settings have been applied.
  3. The network settings on the Ewon weren't right for the network:
Verify that the Ewon’s WAN address is in the same subnet as the Bolt’s Ethernet address. Note that the LAN and WAN subnets on an Ewon cannot overlap, so whether DHCP or a static IP is used, the WAN IP must not be in the same subnet as the LAN.
