This guide walks you through updating an Anybus CompactCom using a USB Development Board from the Starter Kit.

Anybus Transport Provider
Firmware file with .hiff extension
UPDATE ANYBUS COMPACTCOM
- Place the CompactCom in the Starter Kit.
- Make sure that the switches on the Starter Kit are in the correct positions as marked in yellow.
- Enable power.
- Connect the Starter Kit to the Windows PC via the USB cable.
- Launch Firmware Manager II
- Add firmware to the Firmware Repository
- File > Firmware repository...
- Click on the "Import firmware to repository" icon
- Navigate to and select and open the .hiff file
- Verify firmware is added to the list and close
- Update firmware

File > Manual Update Wizard...
- Select "Anybus CompactCom 30/40" depending on your product and click next
- Select "Transport Provider" and click next
- Select "HMS Development Board 2" as your transport path. If a transport path has not been created yet, create a new transport path for the "HMS Development Board 2".
(1) Click Create
(2) Select HMS Development Board 2
(3) Click OK to choose the provider
(4) Then click OK to validate
- The Firmware Manager should now display firmware versions compatible with your Anybus CompactCom hardware. Newer firmwares will show a green up arrow and older firmwares will show a red down arrow. You can see a microchip icon next to your current firmware.
- Select the firmware you would like to update (1) to and click Update (2).
- Wait for the update process to finish.
- Once it is done, click on the Close button. Cancelling the update may damage the module.
