Is it possible to use VCI V4 with older USB-CAN versions?

 In this article, it is explained if it is possible to use VCI V4 with older than USB-to-CAN Compact V2.

APPLICABLE PRODUCTS 

  • USB-to-CAN Compact V1.5

IN THIS ARTICLE 

 

  1. The USB-to-CAN compact V1.5 (2005) is about 17 years old and officially supports Windows 98/2000/XP only.
    (The USB-to-CAN compact V1.5 is not supported under Windows 7/8/10, Linux, and virtual operating systems.)
  2. Within Windows XP the USB-to-CAN compact V1.5 (2005) can be updated with the attached boot manager up to V1.6.
    The USB-to-CAN compact V1.6 (2010) can be used also with Windows 7/8/10, Linux, and virtual OS.
  3. We experienced that the USB-to-CAN compact V1.6 does not run
    on some Windows 10 PCs (especially with the newest Windows Updates).

    In such cases, we can only recommend the use of our USB-to-CAN V2,
    because the USB-to-CAN compact V1.6 is obsolete since 2014.
