Integration of HVAC systems into KNX using the Intesis 700 Series Air gateways at ALDI supermarkets in Sevilla, Valencia, and Burgos (Spain). These three locations required centralized monitoring and management from ALDI’s headquarters in Barcelona.
This project involved the design, installation, programming, and commissioning of a KNX supervision and control system for two newly constructed logistics centers, along with the expansion and renovation of an existing logistics facility for ALDI. These centers support the storage and distribution of goods to ALDI supermarkets throughout Spain.
The logistics centers are in Sevilla, Valencia, and Burgos. One project requirement was to enable centralized monitoring and management of these three locations from ALDI’s headquarters in Barcelona.
This project won the Special Award at the “KNX Awards 2024” and was also selected as the 1st finalist in the Best KNX Project category at the 5th edition of the “KNX Spain 2024 Awards”.
The project was designed to meet the rigorous standards for the prestigious BREEAM certification. BREEAM promotes sustainable building practices that provide long-term cost savings, health benefits, and positive environmental impacts for all stakeholders over the building’s lifecycle.
Key elements addressed in the project included ensuring thermal comfort through advanced climate control systems and promoting efficient electricity usage to reduce CO₂ emissions.
“We chose the Intesis AC Gateways 700 Series Air for their easy and fast configuration”
Antonio José Molero Fernandez - CEO
The Intesis 700 Series Air gateways enable easy, efficient, and reliable communication of HVAC installations with Building Management Systems (BMS).
Each ALDI logistics center has dozens of AC indoor units. To integrate all these units into the BMS and enable their independent monitoring and control, only 2 or 3 Intesis 700 Series Air gateways were installed per center, providing a cost-effective and quick-to-implement solution.
Thanks to the Intesis configuration and diagnostic tool MAPS the setup and commissioning process was straightforward and quick, allowing for robust and reliable communication between the HVAC equipment and the BMS.
The end user’s maintenance team is satisfied with the results and appreciates the feeling of control over the HVAC system.
