ISSUE / QUESTION
USB-to-CAN compact VCI4 crashes Windows10.
When trying to access the adapter, the computer sometimes displays a bluescreen and reboots.
POSSIBLE CAUSES / ANSWER
The USB-to-CAN compact V1.5 (or older) is officially supported under Windows 98/2000/XP only.
The USB-to-CAN compact V1.5 (2005) can be updated to V1.6 with the boot manager V0.2.7.0, then Windows 7/8/10, Linux and VM are supported.
The sporadic bluescreens with USB-to-CAN compact on some Windows 10 machines are known, but unfortunately the problem cannot be solved, because the USB-to-CAN compact V1.6 is discontinued since 2014.
Under Windows 10 we can only recommend to use a USB-to-CAN V2.
